Annotated Bibliography "Decision-Making for Hydropower"

In Dr. Ute Collier's article, he talked about the decision-making when building a hydro power plants. He discussed the three things that the government should think about before building hydro power plants: the demands, the locations, and the flow of the hydroelectricity. Government has to serve the demands of the hydro power. Hydro power will not operate without dam, so the government has to have money, supply, and time. Building a dam will cost a lot of money and time. It will also need huge amounts of supplies to build large dams, and to make sure that it is stable to hold tremendous amounts of water. Experts are concerned about the location of dams. Experts were thinking if they would build dams on river schemes or on large storage reservoirs, (Collier, 2004). Government should also be concern about the flow of hydro power plants. Experts should think about the interference of hydro power in the needs of people and animals for water. If dams were to built in a place where it can reduce the water supply of other species, then it would not be effective for other people. Government should always think outside the box before they do anything that they think is right for their country.
